Linksys by Cisco WAG54G2 and WAG160N to premiere at PIKOM PC Fair 2008 (III), empowering wireless freedom for Malaysian homes
MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur – December 3, 2008 – Cisco® today announced two new gateways bringing to Malaysian home-users the freedom of wireless connectivity. Premiering at the upcoming PIKOM PC Fair 2008 (III), the new range features the Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G ADSL2+ Gateway (WAG54G2) and the Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway (WAG160N).
The all-in-one gateway solutions combine the functionalities of an ADSL2+ modem, four-port Ethernet switch, built-in wireless access point and router in a single device. This newest addition to the Linksys by Cisco wireless family is designed to allow users to connect to high-speed Internet connection, build a home network of up to four PCs and simultaneously share Internet connection and digital content anywhere at home.
“The new range of gateways is a simple solution that brings together the essential requirements for setting up a wireless home in a single tool. We believe users appreciate the integration as it eliminates the need to purchase and manage multiple devices,” said Boon Ping Tang, Regional Sales Director, Asia, Cisco Consumer Business Group. “Built on our legacy in making home networking simple, the new products free consumers from the technical hassles of setting up wireless network.”
The Linksys by Cisco gateways ship with the Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA), an intelligent software management tool that helps provide an easy way to setup, view, manage and repair the network, just like having a Cisco expert at home. Sporting the same sleek industrial design as its new generation routers, it incorporates an internal antenna technology designed to increase the wireless range, without compromising on its performance.
The Linksys by Cisco gateways are designed to deliver speedy, secure and resilient wireless environment that allow home-user to share Internet and files, print documents without a physical connection and remotely monitor home and family. The new gateways are ideal for first-time broadband subscriber desiring a modern wireless home, as well as existing users who wish to extend their broadband usability.
“Wireless technology empowers the freedom to do so much more with the Internet at home. For example, mom can explore new dishes for dinner by referring to online recipes, while the children research on school projects and dad attends to urgent requests from his office. All these can be experienced simultaneously under one roof,” added Boon Ping.
The Linksys by Cisco WAG54G2 comes with a built-in wireless-G (802.11g) access point and are designed to connect up to 32 wireless devices to the network at a blazing 54Mbps wireless speed*. It is ideal for basic downloading and sharing all kinds of files – from music, digital photos and documents.
For users who prefer an extended wireless freedom, they can opt for the Linksys by Cisco WAG160N which is designed to deliver further range and faster wireless speed of up to 300Mbps*. The wireless-N (draft 802.11n) connection is perfect for media and technology enthusiasts who frequently stream digital content wirelessly within their homes to enjoy a new broadband experience.
